Mark has held a number of senior positions in risk management and has considerable experience in health, safety and environmental regulation. He has a wealth of knowledge in assisting clients in managing risk within their businesses in a variety of sectors and multi-site operations. He has successfully implemented management systems certified to international standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001/OHSAS 18001 and is a qualified lead auditor. He read law at Northumbria University followed by a Master of Laws degree in Health, Safety and Environmental Law at Salford University and was Called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2008.
Mark developed his investigation skills as a police officer then worked as a regulator with the Environment Agency where he led one of the largest investigations undertaken by the organisation into the unlawful disposal of hazardous incinerator ash. He has over 17 years’ experience of commercial business operations at board level where he had strategic responsibility for health, safety and environmental management across all group operations. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Directors, a Chartered Waste and Resources Manager, Chartered Environmentalist and a member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health.
Mark joined Jacksons Health and Safety in February 2015 and he brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to support external business clients in managing their health, safety and environmental risks on a consultancy basis. This includes a complete health, safety or environmental management package comprising risk assessments, audits, provision and review of policies, accident and incident investigations as well as procedures for all types of business activities. Mark is also a seasoned trainer and can provide bespoke training packages to suit a client’s individual requirements. Training can be provided at our offices in Stockton and Teesside, remotely online or at your business premises.
